Athletics New Zealand in association with Nick Willis present:
What is it?
The mile is an iconic running distance, with a special significance to Kiwi’s. New Zealand has produced many top mile runners and four Kiwis - Jack Lovelock, Marise Chamberlain, Peter Snell and John Walker have previously held the mile world record. Running a mile fast as you can isn’t just for the elite though, everyone can test themselves over this distance and try to reach their own goal time.
In association with New Zealand’s top middle distance runner, double Olympic medallist Nick Willis we want to introduce as many New Zealanders as possible to running this iconic distance. We’ll be holding The People's Mile in Auckland this February as part our International Athletics Series. You’ll get the chance to run yourself in this fun and friendly event and then watch New Zealand’s top athletes like Tom Walsh and Eliza McCartney in action against world class international competitors.
